The Yamaha rider had a mixed first day which improved this afternoon, placing him close to the leading men. However, he still lacks a little something to join them.
Maverick Vinales arrived motivated and very prepared in Brno after the summer break. Appreciating this circuit, he knew he was capable of being strong there. At the end of this first day, it is not yet possible to confirm it, even if he showed good things.
Indeed, this morning he only finished fourteenth in FP1, before then catching up in FP2 where he rode in the top 10 before finishing in sixth position in the session and also in the day. Although he is not yet all the way ahead, he is optimistic for tomorrow: “It was a good day, because we were close to the front, especially in terms of pace, even if the bike didn't work perfectly yet. We must continue to work, there is still room to improve and we must not stop attacking. We have a good feeling with the tires and I felt good all the time with all types of tires. We just have to make it all work. Honestly, it was difficult today because it was really hot. It looks like it's going to be like this all weekend so we have to hurry to find the right settings because at the moment it's not ready yet. I will try to keep the pace I had during the last Grands Prix. Brno may not be the best track for me, but the bike works well. We know we can do good things. »
