The Suzuki rider arrived in Malaysia with a positive dynamic and hopes to continue on the same path to offer another good result to his team. At the end of this first day, he finished in the lead and is therefore well on his way.

Alex Rins has been in a positive spiral for five Grands Prix and has always finished at the forefront: fourth in Misano and Aragon, sixth in Thailand, third in Japan and fifth in Australia. All these good results bode well for this weekend, even if for several years, the Sepang track has not been very successful for him, like Andrea Iannone. Indeed, since 2015, he has experienced two falls and a fourteenth place finish. But like his teammate, he has all the cards in hand this season to put an end to this poor series of results.

He arrived very motivated and had an excellent first day. First sixth in FP1, five tenths off the best time, he then finished at the top of FP2, for 93 thousandths over… number 93 (which is none other than Marc Márquez)! This cannot be invented! And above all, this allows him to take the lead on this first day in Malaysia.

The Spanish driver was very happy on his return to the box, and above all full of hope for tomorrow's qualifying: “I'm really happy because the bike worked really well today. We had great pace, even with the worn tires. We are therefore hopeful that the weekend will go well. The bike has changed a bit since we tested here. It has a better top speed and we have a different configuration of the aerodynamic fairing. So we can clearly see the positive development that has taken place throughout the season. I can not wait for tomorrow. »
