The Suzuki rider made up for his complicated start to the weekend in qualifying, but saw his race end on the first lap after being surprised by a catch from Marc Márquez.

After encountering some difficulties at the start of the weekend and narrowly qualifying for Q2, Andrea Iannone made good progress in qualifying. Unfortunately hampered by Marc Márquez who slowed down on the trajectory when he did not see him arriving, he lost precious tenths which caused him to miss the first row. Finally penalized, the Spanish driver had to drop six places on the grid, thus offering the Italian the famous first row that he hoped to secure.

The signals were therefore green for him today. Author of a good start, he remained among the first until a small incident ended his race on the first lap. Overtaken by Márquez, he was following him when the Spaniard began to fall in the last corner and once again made a catch that only he knows how to do. Finding himself almost in his wheel, Iannone was surprised and braked which was fatal. The Suzuki driver thus found himself on the ground, even before the start of the second lap.

A disappointing end due to bad luck that Andrea Iannone already wants to forget to concentrate on the next and last Grand Prix of the season, in Valencia: “I'm a little disappointed because we had a chance to get another podium, but I don't want to focus on what happened. I always try to be positive, and the good thing is that I had a good rhythm and a very good feeling with the bike after we worked hard with the team. So I'm just going to focus on the last race of the season and give my best to get a good result there. »
