Marc Marquez left his mark on this first MotoGP Grand Prix in Thailand. By qualifications Dantesque first, then by a wild race which he won in the last meters against a Dovizioso who generally played on him in the last bend. But this time, he won his case. Here he is with 77 points ahead of DesmoDovi who is building his new status as vice-world champion.

Honda can rejoice. It will be possible that his champion will be titled in Japan in two weeks. He will need to have 75 at the end of the Motegi event, to win a fifth crown in the premier category since he made his debut there in 2013. By winning in Buriram, Marc Márquez also equaled Jorge Lorenzo, fifth in the ranking of drivers who have achieved the most success. Here is his capital in the genre brought to 68 achievements. The hierarchy is currently as follows: Giacomo Agostini (122) Valentino Rossi (115) Angel Nieto (90) Mike Hailwood (76) and therefore Jorge Lorenzo with Marc Marquez.

Furthermore, the Spaniard passes Mike Hailwood to the number of achievements accomplished on a Honda. It now has 42. Destination now Jim Redman before contesting the 54 successes of Doohan and Pedrosa.

Dovizioso is therefore second overall with 22 points ahead of Red who respects his teammate Vinales for the final podium. The latter is 26 lengths from the Doctor. Package, Lorenzo let go since now 16 points behind Vinales and sees his fifth place threatened by Crutchlow which sticks it by two units.

The Englishman is no better off in his battle to be the best of the independents. Sixth overall, he certainly passed Petrucci but by only two points while zarco is five lengths. Iannone et Kidneys close the top 10. Morbidely still leads the rookies, but Syahrin is five points.

Incidentally, with the victories of By Giannantonio in Moto3 and bagnaia in Moto2, Italy now has 800 Grand Prix victories…

There are four Grands Prix left before the end. See you in two weeks at Motegi!
