The Spanish rider bowed out at Ducati at the end of this Sunday's race which did not go as he would have liked.

Forfeited for three Grands Prix due to his wrist injury, Jorge Lorenzo was back in Valencia and hoped to end the season and his two years with Ducati in the best possible way by achieving a good result.

Unfortunately, this was without taking into account the weather which played out and complicated things throughout the weekend with showers and storms. In these conditions, the Spaniard did not want to take any risks and therefore finished far away in each of the sessions. Seventeenth in the combined times of free practice then sixteenth in FP4, he then qualified in thirteenth position and was therefore preparing to experience a complicated race.

Despite the heavy rain and the number of falls, Lorenzo managed to avoid the traps and stay on his wheels, but only finished in twelfth place. This is obviously not the result he thought he would achieve for his last race in red, but he nevertheless wanted to say goodbye properly, in words, to Ducati: “We have come to the end of my time at Ducati and I haven't managed to do the race I wanted. The conditions were really complicated and it was easy to make a mistake and fall, which is why I preferred not to take too many risks, knowing the condition of my wrist. I did what I could given the track conditions, but I was not able to be competitive. I'm really sorry for the team because I wanted to say goodbye to them with a good result, but I also want to remember all the positive things from these two years. Even though we know that we failed to achieve the goals we set for ourselves when I arrived at Ducati, this year's victories were truly special and I will always keep them in a corner of my heart. My connection with the team has been magnificent. They have always helped me in difficult times and we have formed a friendship that goes beyond racing. The level of professionalism of all the engineers and technicians is very high and together we have managed to ensure that the Desmosedici GP is one of the most competitive bikes on the grid, and I am very proud of that. I would also like to thank all the Ducatists for the support they have given me from day one. I will never forget these two years spent together and a part of me will always be a Ducatist. »
