The Tech3 driver had a rather complicated weekend, but as has often been the case for several Grands Prix, he was able to raise the bar in the race to achieve an incredible performance and finish in the top 10.

In principle, one would have thought that the weather conditions this weekend would have pleased Hafiz Syahrin, nicknamed “el pescao” (the fish) for its agility in the rain. But the latter did not feel that comfortable on Friday and Saturday, as evidenced by his results.

First twenty-fourth in FP1, he then finished fourteenth in FP2 and twenty-first in FP3. He did not qualify directly for Q2, but had a very good FP4, taking eighth time. However, he again encountered difficulties in qualifying and could not do better than twenty-first.

The race promised to be all the more difficult as heavy showers fell on the circuit, forcing the Race Direction to wave the red flag to make a new start. Although many drivers were trapped by the track conditions, Syahrin managed to stay on his wheels, and above all to move up to tenth position.

After his top 10 finishes in Japan and Malaysia, he confirms his excellent end to the season which bodes well for next year: “First of all, I would like to thank my team. We didn't expect to finish in the top 10 in wet conditions. It was very complicated, many drivers crashed and the race was stopped. At that time, I was in tenth position. We thought we could challenge the other drivers. Personally, it was the first time I was able to complete an entire race in the wet and I learned a lot. In the end, I finished just four points behind the best rookie, who is Franco Morbidelli. Congratulations to him! Regardless, I gave my best. I thank all our sponsors, my family and the fans who came to support me. I'm really happy to be here in MotoGP. Next week we will start a new adventure and I will continue to work hard. Thank you very much to everyone! »
