The Yamaha rider arrives motivated and positive at the last Grand Prix of the season, so much so that he is aiming for a victory in order to regain third place in the Championship from his teammate, Valentino Rossi.

Excluding the Japanese Grand Prix, the overseas tour went very well for Maverick Vinales, who was finally able to bring the Yamaha back to the highest level by winning in Australia. With a podium in Thailand and a fourth place in Malaysia, he has come back at high speed in the Championship and is now only two points behind Valentino Rossi, in fourth position.

Third place will therefore be decided between the two teammates, and the Spanish driver is clearly aiming for Rossi's place in the Championship. With the uncertain weather forecast, anything can happen, but whatever happens, he is confident and ready to end a very complicated 2018 in the best possible way: “I arrive in Valencia in a positive state of mind. After the last three Grands Prix in Asia and Oceania, I spent some time at home, relaxing and resting a bit, as the races overseas were very demanding. We have worked hard over the last few months and the bike is competitive. The Ricardo Tormo Circuit is a track that I really like. Its layout corresponds very well to my driving style. Last year my race didn't go well, but this year I'm going to try to attack and give 100% in order to end the season with another victory. I feel very confident. My goal now is to finish third in the Championship and we are very close to that. Ending this difficult season on the last step of the final podium would be a small victory for us. »
