Moto2 qualifying was marked three minutes from the end of hostilities by a violent fall of Tuuli who ordered the raising of the red flag. Unfortunately, the Frenchman and winner of the last meeting in Catalonia did not return to his stand after finishing his lap as required by the regulations in this case. As a result, he was penalized and forced to move back three places on the starting grid. Iker Lecuona will do the same for the same reason.
This complicates the task for the one who is now the second youngest winner in the category behind Marc Márquez. On the other hand, he is the youngest French rider to win in Moto2 ahead of Jules Cluzel and the third compatriot to meet success there with the same Cluzel et John Zarco.
Finally, he is the fourth rider to bring home a victory aboard a SpeedUp with Sam Lowes, Anthony West et Andrea Iannone.
