The Moto3 riders arrive at the Assen circuit for the eighth meeting of the season. If Marco Bezzecchi still leads the Championship, the ranking remains tight because Fabio Di Giannantonio and Jorge Martín are only nine and thirteen points behind. Then, the gap widened a little with Enea Bastianini and Arón Canet who are at thirty-five and forty-two points.

However, the Grands Prix have so far shown that anything can happen, and that even the strong men in the category can lose everything in a race. Twists and turns are therefore still possible this weekend. In the meantime, everyone will set off at 9 a.m. for FP1.

The temperature is 21 degrees in the air and 25 degrees on the track when the Moto3 field sets off for the first free session of the weekend. Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini) was the first to set the reference time in 1'46.775, immediately dethroned by Philipp Oettl (Sudmetal Schedl GP Racing) who continues the fast laps.

Two new drivers are entering the track at this Grand Prix: the wild card Ryan van de Lagemaat and Stefano Nepa, who replaces Makar Yurchenko within the CIP until the end of the season.

After ten minutes, Marco Bezzecchi (PruestlGP) takes the lead in the ranking ahead Marcos Ramirez (Bester Capital Dubai), Jorge Martín, Fabio Di Giannantonio (Del Conca Gresini) and Kaito Toba (Honda Team Asia).

After dislocating his shoulder at the Catalan Grand Prix and not being able to participate in the race, Niccolo Antonelli (SIC58 Squadra Corse) was declared fit to race this weekend and is in twelfth place.

Mid-session, John Mcphee (CIP – Green Power) takes the lead Marco Bezzecchi, Jorge Martín, Marcos Ramirez et Fabio Di Giannantonio. Behind, Philipp Oettl, Kaito Toba, Jakub Kornfeil (PruestlGP), Aron Canet (Estrella Galicia 0,0) and Ayumu Sasaki (Petronas Sprinta Racing) complete the top 10.

In the last ten minutes, Martín passes back in front, quickly imitated by bastianini which goes below the 1'44 mark. The Spaniard once again took command four minutes from the end, before being passed again by Bezzecchi then iron again. Martín has the last word, and we thus notice that all the strong men of the Championship are in the first places at the checkered flag (Martín, Bezzecchi, Canet and Bastianini), except By Giannantonio who fell all the way to seventeenth place before finally finishing fourteenth.
