Second pole position of the year for Niccolò Antonelli after the one achieved in Austin.

The driver of the SIC58 Squadra Corse team also beats the circuit record set by Enea Bastianini in 2015 which was 1'41.283, and won in 1'41.232. His teammate Tatsuki suzuki will start from fourth position.

In second position is the winner of the Qatar Grand Prix, Kaito Toba (Honda Team Asia), who qualified in 1'41.376. A nice way to pay tribute to the 60 years of the manufacturer Honda in the world.

Behind the Japanese, another Italian completes this Top 3 by the name of Tony Arbolino (Sniper Team). The latter achieved the first world victory of his career at Mugello. As for the championship leaders, Aron Canet qualifies for 9rd position and Dallas Port 8rd.

Here are the top 3 statements:

Niccolo Antonelli : “I knew I could be very fast and manage to qualify among the first but the pole position was very unexpected and it was a big but pleasant surprise. The track is particularly suited to taking aspirations and I did well when we were all together in the final qualifying lap. What a surprise ! For the race, it will be essential that I give the best of myself and, above all, that I make no mistakes to ensure the championship.”

Kaito Toba : “Our goal was pole position and we narrowly missed out due to a mistake I made, but I'm still very happy with how the weekend went. Yesterday we had some problems with the bike, during FP1 it was moving a lot and I wasn't able to get the best out of it. In FP2 we found some solutions to our problems but where things started to move was especially during FP3 where we were on a very good pace. The qualifying session confirmed everything. Tomorrow we will have to get off to a very good start and above all not lose the leading group. I think I can play for victory, anything is possible, especially in Moto3.”

Tony Arbolino : “We did a very good lap and the bike is perfect for achieving this kind of time. But that won't be enough for tomorrow and we have to figure out how to improve it as best as possible to have a solid race. I’m still happy to start from the first row, it’s a good thing.”

See you tomorrow at 11 a.m. to follow the Moto3 race!
