The Suzuki driver has been at the forefront since the start of the weekend and unfortunately did not manage to make a comeback in qualifying.

Andrea Iannone had two very good days at Assen, always being at the forefront. Indeed, he finished sixth in FP1 before taking second place in FP2. Today he set the fifth fastest time in FP3 and finally finished second in FP4.

Confident, he had a very good qualifying, but was a victim of the last lap, like Jorge Lorenzo and Johann Zarco. While holding provisional pole position, he endured the final lap driven by Marc Márquez, Cal Crutchlow, Valentino Rossi, Andrea Dovizioso, Álex Rins and Maverick Vinales, and ultimately finished ninth, his worst result of the weekend.

The Italian driver was however satisfied on his return to the box, judging his pace to be good: “I think we worked well, we have progressed since FP2. However, we weren't able to improve that much and had a bit of trouble with the settings. We just need to improve a little on certain points. In any case we are not very far from the other drivers. Everyone is very close to each other and the second part of the race will be the most important for us tomorrow. »

However, he knows that the last races have been more complicated for him, and he therefore does not know what to expect in the race tomorrow: “I am confident but during the other races we had difficulty staying with the leading drivers. We worked well throughout the weekend so we will do our best and fight. »
