The Yamaha rider was back at the front throughout the weekend, but missed his qualifying a little. Despite everything, he hopes to be able to play up front in the race.

Maverick Vinales had an excellent Friday, finishing second in FP1 and first in FP2. Very confident, he also started well this Saturday by taking the second time in FP3, and the fourth time in FP4.

The counters were therefore green for qualifying, and the Spaniard rode well before unfortunately finishing last in the group made up of Marc Márquez, Cal Crutchlow, Valentino Rossi, Andrea Dovizioso and Álex Rins, the one having taken all the first places. He therefore finished sixth, his worst result of the weekend.

He admits to having had more difficulty today but remains confident for tomorrow: “It was more difficult to be competitive compared to yesterday, but we tried to give our best, as always. We mainly focused on running on full fuel, so I had a few problems when I attacked for my fast lap, but regardless, I think we can do good things tomorrow. »

Having focused his work on the start of the race, Viñales really hopes to be able to apply what was done throughout the weekend during the race: “We still need to discuss the tire choice with Michelin and the team. Starting sixth is not bad, and I will try to get a good start. I will be there in the first laps trying to reproduce what we did in free practice. We have worked a lot to prepare for the race, we will see if it pays off. Many drivers have the same pace on different tires, so the race is sure to be tricky and interesting. If we work well tonight and choose the right settings, I know we can be in front. »
