The Suzuki rider, although ill, had an excellent race and achieved his best result in MotoGP this Sunday.

Alex Rins had a rather average start to the weekend before revealing itself in qualifying and taking fifth place.

However, he woke up sick this morning, and therefore suffered during the warm-up which he finished in fourteenth position: “This morning I really didn't feel well, I had stomach problems. The doctors at the Mobile Clinic gave me some medicine and it took the pain away, so I really have to thank them, because when I felt better I thought "wow, this is going to be my race!" »

Indeed, the Spanish pilot put on a show with the greatest! Starting fifth, he remained in the leading group throughout the race, and was able to stand up to the big names in the category like Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso. He even shook Marc Márquez during an overtake: “The fight was fantastic and I learned a lot during this race. Our pace was good and I was able to have fun! There were many overtakes and contacts, I tried to attack to stay with the others and keep my place. »

In the end, Rins knew how to manage his race, and even attacked Maverick Viñales in the final turns to take second place, his second podium of the season, but also his best result in the premier category: “I feel very good on my bike. With the team we all want to progress and win. We have had a very competitive bike since Qatar, but we were able to change a few things in order to have more power and achieve better performance. I hope I can stay ahead in the next races. I am confident for the Sachsenring. »
