In this season there is a competition within the competition in MotoGP and it concerns the one between the beginners of the year. Finishing as the rookie of the vintage is not an issue to be taken lightly and it is even an imperative that was recalled Hervé Poncharal to its pilot Hafiz Syahrin at the end of a Dutch Grand Prix which he finished out of the points. And while his opponent Morbidely was forfeited.
Suffice it to say that it was a great opportunity to move up the two points separating the Malaysian from the Marc VDS Racing driver who was absent following a broken hand after a fall during testing. But the teammate of Johann zarco could not do better than eighteenth, very far from a fifteenth position which marks the first collection of points.
The French boss is therefore disappointed, and he makes it known: “ I was happy with his performance on Saturday and the way things were going, but on Sunday his first lap was bad and his pace was insufficient. This is a real regression compared to what we saw in Catalonia. We were hoping to regain points from Morbidelli but we only finished eighteenth and, honestly, it was a disappointment ».
He pursues : " we knew from the start that Hafizh did not like the Assen route. But to be a MotoGP rider you need to be fast everywhere. And that didn't happen in the Netherlands. We saw in Barcelona that he could ride with the best. So, of course, he's a beginner, and so he has a lot to learn. Let's hope that the Sachsenring will be easier to allow the whole team, including the drivers, to go on vacation peacefully ».
A reminder that Syahrin received: “ I'm sorry for the team. At the start of the race, I had a good pace behind Pedrosa, I got off to a good start but entering the first corner I was too close to the limit and I didn't take the right line. Quite a few drivers passed me on the outside. I tried to keep pace and was doing pretty well before my front tire collapsed after ten laps ».
« I could no longer brake hard and I could no longer drive as I should. Maybe my tire choice was wrong. I have to learn from this and we know that we could have fought for points and a better place. I will work hard to learn from this experience ". Who likes it well, loves it well at Tech3.
