The Ducati rider arrives at the Assen circuit in great shape, after his two consecutive victories. After encountering so many difficulties on his machine, he seems more confident than ever, and could once again create a surprise this weekend.

Jorge Lorenzo had an extremely complicated start to the season: a fall in Qatar, a fifteenth place in Argentina, an eleventh place in Texas and another fall in Jerez. However, he felt more comfortable on his machine and he regularly led the start of the races before falling down the rankings, just like in the Championship where he occupied the last places.

Ducati therefore decided to part with him next year, and at the same time, the Majorcan had the trigger that everyone was waiting for: after leading a good part of the race at Le Mans, he then masterfully won at Mugello then again in Barcelona two weeks later. Final twist, he signed with the Honda Repsol team for 2019 and 2020.

Back at the top with victories and a secure future, Lorenzo has returned to his highest level, and is therefore eagerly awaited this weekend at Assen. However, even if he feels very strong, he is aware that the particularities of the Dutch track are far from being the same as those of Mugello and Barcelona.

He therefore remains confident, but cautious: “The two consecutive victories in Mugello and Montmeló were really important, but the Championship never stops and now we have to show that we can be fast on all types of tracks, even Assen. It might not be the best circuit for us, but I'm sure we can be competitive. We must approach the races one after the other, being aware that each Grand Prix is important. At the moment the question is not to think about the title, what is important is to continue working as we have done so far and to always keep our confidence. Assen is a historic circuit and it's always special to ride here. We will, of course, have to take the weather conditions into account as they can play a major role, as they do almost every year. »
