Marc Márquez is the first to set off when the red lights go out. All drivers chose a soft rear tire except alex rins who, having passed Q1, no longer has it for this first run.
Jorge Lorenzo is lurking in the wake of Marc Márquez, so he gives his hand and lets him pass. Nevertheless, Jorge Lorenzo immediately recorded a 1'33.600 during his first flying lap, ahead of Johann Zarco Danilo, Petrucci and Maverick Vinales.
In the next passage, Marc Márquez is faster by 7 thousandths, but it ultimately turns out to be slower than Danilo Petrucci and especially Alex Rins which completes a lap in 1'33.499.
Marc Márquez then reacts in 1'33.330 mid-session where the rest of the hierarchy is made up of Alex Rins, Danilo Petrucci, Johann Zarco, Maverick Vinales, Jorge Lorenzo, Cal Crutchlow, Andrea Dovizioso, Valentino Rossi and Aleix Espargaro.
For the 2nd run, everyone is on a new soft rear tire. Andrea Iannone, then 11th, benefits from the wake of Jorge Lorenzo who achieves 1'33.167 to take second position. The Majorcan pilot does not stop there and continues his effort, which allows Andrea Iannone to take provisional pole position in 1'33.120.
A little behind, Johann zarco brings a good number of pilots, which allows Márquez and Rins, then a little further Vinales, Aleix Espargaro, Rossi, Dovizioso, Petrucci and Crutchlow to gain some advantage and, for the most part, to cross the 1'33 mark.
As a result, the French driver finds himself 8th, and Jorge Lorenzo, leader less than two minutes ago, in 10th position!
Incredible finish with 4 drivers in the same tenth!
