This qualifying session promises to be exciting in this Moto2 category which is fighting its sixth fight of the season at Mugello. An Italian Grand Prix which is not yet successful for the championship leader Baldassarri who will have to go through repechage like all drivers KTM. Meanwhile, the younger brothers of the illustrious elders who are Marc Márquez and Valentino Rossi are in the right rhythm while the Speed Up chassis will have their say. In short, everything is open, especially with Lüthi able to do well in the title race...

26° in the air and 47° on the track under a hot sun, these are the conditions offered to the pilots. In 1'52.075, Virgin appears at the top. Baldassarri, Martin et Binder enter the top 4 which will move up to Q2 after five minutes of competition.
Open up upsets everything a little by coming second in front Binder et Bendsneyder with its NTS chassis. The reference of Virgin is now 1.

Martin passes second and also in the 1'51 zone. Baldassarri is only sixth. But two minutes from time, he moved up to second. Bezzecchi crash at turn 3. He was eleventh.

Q2 is underway and it will be decided after 15 minutes of fighting. Lüthi clocked a 1'51.169, which is the track record in the category. Open up et Fernandez follow by almost four tenths. Open up does a little better and is followed by his leader Marini while Nagashima registers fourth. Alex Marquez reacts and comes close to two tenths of the performance of Lüthi.

The last five minutes have begun... Alex Marquez, in an excellent turn, is hampered by Nagashima which has the gift of making him angry. Under the checkered flag, it's Schrötter who beats his teammate in 1'51.129. Lüthi follows, as Alex Marquez. Open up, NAVARRO with the Speed Up and Marini are in the second row. Baldassarri is fifteenth.
