Tony Arbolino qualified on pole position for the third time in his career in a Grand Prix. This is Arbolino's first pole position since Valencia last year. His best result during his two visits to Mugello in Moto3 is a seventh place last year, he started 18th on the grid. This is Arbolino's second consecutive presence on the front row of a Grand Prix, after Malaysia followed by Valencia last season. In addition, this is the second pole position of an Italian rider on the Mugello circuit in Moto3, with Romano Fenati in 2016.

gabriel rodrigo qualified in second place. It is his second front row start this year with Austin and his best qualifying result since his pole position last year in Japan. Lorenzo Dalla Porta completes the first row as he did this year in Qatar and Spain. The winner of Mugello in 2017, Andrea Migno, is the highest placed KTM rider on the second row of the grid. It's his best result since he was second fastest at Japan 2016. The winner of the Moto3 race at Mugello in 2015, Roman Fenati, qualified in fifth place. This is his best qualifying result in Moto3 since his fifth place in Australia in 2017.

Kaito Toba, who won the opening race in Qatar this year, qualified in sixth position, his best qualifying performance since his third place in Qatar. The leader of the championship, Aron Canet, is the eighth best qualifier. This is the third time in a row that he has not qualified among the top six. He finished 11th last year at Mugello, starting fourth on the grid.

Arbolino leads the second round but everything is very random, the top 10 coming and going constantly. Suzuki is hot when braking and wants to pay tribute to his boss Simoncelli who decorates his helmet. Rodrigo falls at turn 8. He is one of the first favorites to fall. Darryn binder comes fourth and he is not the type to calm things down… After four laps, Dallas Port led. It looks very good on the straight.

fenati slides 19th and Binder climbs second. Dallas Port holds his head. Especially since Binder et Arbolino are in a duel. After six rounds, Binder wants to take orders but Dallas Port gives him the answer.

Antonelli moves up to eighth behind Canet. Dallas Port maintains a sufficient lead to avoid aspiration after seven laps. The guest Zannoni falls with his TM at turn 1. Alonso lopez, ninth, crashed at turn 12. Arbolino joined Dallas Port. Everything has to be done again for the Leopard driver who, at this stage of the race, takes the lead in the championship.

Booth-Amos of the CIP team fell at turn 14. His teammate Binder is still in contention for victory. Dallas Port made a mistake and slipped to fifth but caught himself before the straight which he entered in the lead to come out third… Suzuki leads to nine rounds of the term.
