Tough day for one Andrea Dovizioso who didn't have an easy Saturday. But his Friday wasn't easy either, so we were worried about his Sunday. The one who was to resume the offensive against Marc Márquez is again in defensive mode with a modest ninth position on the starting grid. It's far from his teammate Petrucci on the first line. What's more, he was the toy of Marc Márquez who pushed him around as much as used him...
By missing direct entry into Q2, DesmoDovi condemned himself to complicated qualifying. With only one set of tires in stock for the decisive moment, one less than his formidable opponents, his task looked more than complicated. He still left Q1 with his guest teammate Pirro. Then he got into the rhythm of Q2 with medium tires. It is at this moment that Márquez in tenders gave him a virile interior, as if to mark him and bring him into line...
The Spaniard then continued to rely on the official Ducati to use him for his purposes, namely to impose himself by the aspiration to fabio quartararo to gain pole position. A scenario that doesn't really make Dovi a rival for the liter against the ruthless Honda official... But more is needed to shake the Italian off his hinges: " unfortunately I had to go through Q1, so I didn't have two soft tires to use in Q2, so I did the first outing with the mediums. With this rubber, I didn't go hard and in fact Marquez didn't"sé".
« I only had one attempt left, I was twelfth, then he caught me to take advantage of the slipstream. I couldn't do a different strategy. I turned in 1'46.2 and I thought I could stay in front. So like I said, he's strong, he pushes 100% when he wants and he made the pole ».
On his attitude, he comments: “ This is nothing new, he does it often. The surprise was that he was looking for me with his second set of tires. He's smart, he plays on these things, but I didn't do the perfect lap, I could have taken another two tenths and left later ". He nevertheless warns: “ the race is not compromised, the choice of tires will be decisive ". And their management too.
