It is under a blue sky and temperatures expected to be warmer than the day before that the Italian Grand Prix finished setting up its decor and its distribution of roles in Tuscany: On its worst circuit of the year, Marc Márquez still appears to be the favorite while the answer will be given to him in the first act by both the Ducati and the Yamaha satellite team.

What happens next is less certain and this morning's warmup which will take place with temperatures of 21 degrees in the air and 28 degrees on the ground will provide an indication of the roles that will be played by Andrea Dovizioso, Alex Rins, Jorge Lorenzo and the public's favorite, Valentino Rossi.

When the red lights go out, it's once again Jorge Lorenzo who rushes first in front Francis Bagnaia.

With the perfect conditions prevailing this morning at Mugello, all Michelin tires are usable and the drivers' choices are quite diverse. However, Michelin announces that the high temperatures will probably not allow the use of soft tires, neither at the rear nor at the front. The choice will therefore be between the mediums and the hard ones this afternoon.

A few riders change bikes in the event of a flag to flag race but, let's face it, there is no chance of that happening.

At the end of the first flying round, it is a Danilo Petrucci yet with a severe cold and a little fever today which records the first provisional reference in 1'48.532.

The session continues with the minor fall of Miguel Oliveira at turn 9 while Marc Márquez, lap after lap, drops his time to 1'46.930 ahead of a still astonishing Pol Espargaro.

A little after mid-session, Andrea Dovizioso accelerates the pace and achieves the 2nd fastest time in front Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo.

3 minutes from the checkered flag, Joan mir remembers everyone by placing his Suzuki 89 thousandths behind Marc Márquez while his teammate seems to lose a little time in his box.

In extremis, fabio quartararo takes 5th position.

At the end of this warmup, we must recognize that, despite the foghorns and smoke bombs, Valentino Rossi did not reassure his fans much…
