The Honda Repsol driver concluded a good first day on the Japanese track, and hopes to achieve a good qualifying tomorrow.

Dani Pedrosa can perform well this weekend, as evidenced by all the good results he has achieved in Motegi in the past. He is indeed the pilot of the grid having the best statistics. After several increasingly positive Grands Prix, and despite his mistake in Thailand, this could mark his return to the forefront.

He started slowly this weekend in Japan by finishing eleventh in FP1, after having progressed in the top 10. After this first session in the dry, the MotoGP field had to ride in mixed conditions in the afternoon due to rain which fell a little before the second session. The Spanish driver was one of those who took to the track despite everything, and finished FP2 with the best time.

Although this is not significant due to the absence of almost a third of the field, it is still a good result which should help Pedrosa better understand his Saturday: “Today we had a little trouble at the start, and had to work on the bike settings. We were ready to try all of this this afternoon, but conditions changed and rain started falling before FP2. We weren't sure if it was really useful to ride on a track with mixed conditions, but in the end I think it was positive because we managed to improve the feeling a little. In the last minutes we were also able to do a few laps on slick tires and this will allow us to be a little more prepared in case of rain tomorrow. »
