The LCR Honda rider was among the leaders in the free sessions yesterday and today but missed out on the opportunity to finish on the front row for the third time this season.

Cal Crutchlow is, without a doubt, one of the strong men of the weekend with one word: second. In fact, he finished in second position in each of the free sessions, apart from the second, in fact, where he did not ride due to poor track conditions. A tenth behind Andrea Dovizioso in FP1 then only 27 thousandths in FP3, he contained Márquez throughout the session and managed to finish as the best Honda driver. In FP4 he finished just behind the latter by three tenths.

With such results, he was expected to be ahead in qualifying and in the fight for pole position. The Briton did the job, but when he was about to do his last flying lap, he missed the last turn and missed the grail, and even the first row. Very upset at the image, he finally had to settle for fourth place, which remains an excellent result.

Back at his box, he has put things into perspective and above all sees his chances of doing something good tomorrow: “I'm happy with the pace we had today. The team worked hard throughout the weekend to make us progress and be competitive. I think we are. I made a mistake in the last corner and missed my chance to be on the front row. This would have been very useful for the race. Regardless, I feel comfortable on the bike, so I remain confident for tomorrow. »
