The Suzuki team will field three machines this weekend and hopes to achieve good results for their home Grand Prix.

This weekend, not two but three drivers will be riding in Suzuki colors. Indeed, in addition to the official drivers Andrea Iannone et Alex Rins, French Sylvain Guintoli will also be present. Test driver for the team, he will make his third wild card of the season after Barcelona and Brno. It's a great opportunity for him and he is obviously very happy to race in Japan: “It’s great to be back on the MotoGP grid in Motegi. I have good memories on this track where I achieved my best result in MotoGP. The tests and the development program are going well so I am very motivated to attack and enjoy on my GSX-RR. »

For their part, Iannone and Rins are keen to make the team whose headquarters are located very close to the circuit shine. The Italian, first of all, would like to repeat his podium in Aragon and will give everything to achieve a great performance: “Japan is an important Grand Prix for us because it is our home race and a lot of fans will come to support us, as will people from the factory. We expect a lot from this weekend. Last year it went really well even though the conditions were very different. Lately we have been strong and efficient so I hope the results will be positive. »

His teammate, Rins, is also hoping to reach the podium after coming close to it in the last three races. His top 5 finish last year bodes well for this weekend: “I arrive at Motegi with a lot of expectations as this will be Suzuki's home Grand Prix. Last year we had a good race in the rain. I think our bike can really perform well on this circuit. It will be important to continue the positive dynamic in which we are, and the direct support of Suzuki will be an additional motivation. »
