After a resumption of the season far from his expectations, the Yamaha rider hopes to get back on track this weekend on one of his favorite tracks.

Maverick Vinales was surely hoping for better results for the resumption of the season, especially since he returned to the front before the summer break. Unfortunately, the difficulties started again from Brno where he qualified poorly and had to start right in the middle of the peloton, which earned him a collision and a blank result.

In Austria, then, the results were not much better, and he finished twelfth in the race, without ever being able to be competitive. Add to this the tensions with his chief mechanic Ramón Forcada, and all of this does not put the Spanish driver in the best situation to achieve good results.

However, he wants to put these two races behind him to concentrate on the next Grand Prix which happens to be one of his favorites on the calendar. Reboosted by the test carried out last weekend, Viñales is very optimistic and is already aiming for the podium, or even victory: “After the test at Misano last Sunday, we arrive at the Silverstone circuit in a positive state of mind. We have a good feeling and the satisfaction of having worked hard. The team can't wait for this weekend to begin, as the fast circuit layout suits our bike, as previous years' results have shown. As I always say, Silverstone is a special track for me because it's where I got my first MotoGP victory. I really like this circuit. There are a lot of fast corners, a lot of chicanes and it's something that suits my driving style well. Honestly, this is one of the best tracks on the calendar for me. Silverstone is one of the Grands Prix I look forward to, and I will do my best and give my all to be on the podium again, like I was in 2017, or even better. Last year we were the fastest in the final laps, so we will try to be more competitive and even stronger this weekend. »
