As a true MotoGP star, Valentino Rossi continues to raise questions about his future after 2018, the year in which he will still be under contract with Yamaha.

Will he continue to run? Will he retire and launch his own MotoGP team, in order to finalize the pyramid he has put in place from the FIM CEV to Moto2?

All hypotheses seemed permissible until Hervé Poncharal, who we no longer present but whose role as president of the IRTA will nevertheless be recalled, explained in a very interesting interview to crash.net that this probability, concretely, does not exist. Unless you buy an existing team, which the nine-time world champion has ample means to do!

Does he have the will? Only the future will tell…

Hervé Poncharal: “What I can tell you, and it is very clear, is that the six independent teams, LCR, Pramac, Gresini, Tech3, Aspar and Avintia have a contract until 2021. This contract indicates that no one can participate in this championship as a new team.
If someone wants to join, they either have to buy an existing team or make a deal with an existing team... Nothing other than a second moto to Lucio [Cecchinello, LCR] can happen until the end of 2021.
So, it's impossible for someone, let's say VR, to join in 2019. Unless everyone agrees to accept two new motorcycles. And that won't happen, because otherwise you would lose your value. »

A statement which has the merit of explaining a more complex situation than certain sentences from Carmelo Ezpeleta suggested...
