Cal Crutchlow returns from the French Grand Prix obviously disappointed at not having been able to defend his chances until the end. Nevertheless, he can congratulate himself on having taken part in the race after the violent fall he suffered on Saturday in Q1.

After two consecutive falls in Texas and Jerez, Cal Crutchlow really needed a good result in France. The weekend had started rather well, with an eleventh place in the combined free practice times, including a fourth place in FP1.

Everything changed on Saturday, when he fell very hard during Q1, causing the session to stop with a red flag. Although conscious, he was taken to hospital where he spent the night, before returning to ride for the Warm Up on Sunday morning, and then starting the race. Despite the pain, he achieved a very good eighth place, making him the hero of this French Grand Prix!

However, the Englishman was not very satisfied when he returned to the box: “I'm actually a little disappointed with the race because I knew throughout the weekend that I had a good pace, but I finished in this place because of what happened on Saturday. The team did a great job and gave me a bike that could fight at the front, but I wasn't able to do that. »

Frustrated at not having been one hundred percent physically, he wanted to be careful and thought about his team in order to finally bring home points: “I just wasn't ready to attack in the first few laps, it's as simple as that. During the first 10 or 15 laps I didn't want to make any mistakes but just stay on the bike, because otherwise I could have seriously injured myself. Then I was able to attack a little bit and overtake a few drivers. It's the first race we've finished in a while, it's not a great result, but I'm happy to have finished and done a good job. »
