The Estrella Galicia 0,0 team knew that the French Grand Prix would be complicated due to the penalty received by Arón Canet in Jerez for the collective crash he had caused. However, this was without counting on the determination of the Spanish driver who had a fantastic race! On the other side of the box, rookie Alonso López had more difficulty.

Following his slightly too optimistic braking at Jerez which caused the fall of Jorge Martín, Enea Bastianini and Tony Arbolino in addition to his own, Arón Canet was given a heavy penalty, that of starting last during the French Grand Prix. It was therefore necessary to work hard throughout the weekend in order to have the necessary pace on Sunday to get back into the race, and that is what he did.

Fourth in the combined free practice times, he then qualified in tenth position, before setting the third best time in the Warm Up on Sunday morning. The signals were therefore green for the race.

Starting last, Canet got off to a very good start by recovering nine places on the first lap alone, and moved up little by little, first seventeenth, then thirteenth, up to eleventh place. The gap with the leading group was, however, already too large, and he had to be content with this position, which improved thanks to the falls that took place in front.

In the end, he finished eighth, an excellent result after starting twenty-eighth: “I had to go up with some caution during the race. Despite everything, I was able to regain a lot of places in the first laps, but then my group grew, and when I finally managed to take the lead, it was very complicated to make up the two seconds that separated us from the lead. leading group. In the end I finished eighth and we took points. We are third in the Championship and therefore we continue to be very motivated. »

For his part, the young Alonso lopez encountered a lot of difficulties this weekend. Lacking feeling with his bike, he finished last in free practice, before managing to qualify eighteenth. Unfortunately, he did not manage to confirm in the race and finished nineteenth and penultimate: “The race was difficult but we knew we would struggle on this circuit. Now I have to learn from this and focus on Mugello. »
