The Sky Racing VR46 team has just denied, through Pablo Nieto, its team manager, the rumor that the Italian team would like to apply for the last place available in MotoGP next year.
This rumor had been growing since midday in Texas, when it was announced as probable by the Spanish television channel Movistar, which would like its media pilot to field a team there.
Pressed by journalists from crash.net, Pablo Nieto agreed to provide some explanations: “In the end, our project is to do Moto3 and Moto2. Nothing else. This is our project. It's true that everyone came to see us to ask us if we would do something in MotoGP, but that's not our project at the moment.
For example, came to see us and, of course, they know that the championship would be good if Valentino had a team in MotoGP, but, at the moment, that is not our project. We have to do Moto2 next year, which is already confirmed, and for the future, you never know. »
Valentino Rossi himself then denied it at a post-qualifying press conference.
This actually seems logical. It is entirely possible that Valentino Rossi will own a MotoGP team one day, but this would undoubtedly be the fruit of the work he undertook a few years ago with his VR46 Riders Academy. The next step is the arrival in Moto2, more than likely with Romano Fenati, and possibly with Ktms.
Obtaining a place in MotoGP from next year would appear above all like favoritism. Then, you would have to find motorbikes (easy) but above all a pilot. But today, no VR46 Riders rider really has the level to make it to MotoGP.
Patience, the Doctor is not yet retired…
