The FIM MotoGP World Championship will see its calendar expand in 2018 with the addition of the Finnish Grand Prix, which will be held on the KymiRing circuit currently under construction.
The last Finnish Grand Prix dates back to 1981, on the exotic circuit in Imatra (see photo).
The calendar will thus increase to at least 19 events, subject to approval of the circuit, and even perhaps to 20 since there is also talk of a Grand Prix in Thailand, possibly from next year.
Twenty Grands Prix is the maximum that the teams have committed to doing, in place of the current 18.
The agreement was signed yesterday at the Sachsenring.
