When we thought we had already seen it all, reality comes back to us. Günter Schachermayr promised it and he did it last Saturday: on the handlebars of his Vespa, he descended the Pezinok chimney, 110 meters, one of the highest in Slovakia, also famous for being the tallest structure in from which one can practice bungee jumping in this country.

The protagonist of this story is a 43-year-old stuntman who, tired of jumping down stairs or catching fire in feature films, decided to break a record with his own Vespa. Be the first person to descend a 110 meter high industrial chimney.

To tell the truth, the story comes from a long way away. Stuntman Günter Schachermayr compiles a series of records to enter the Guinness Book as one of the people with the craziest records to his name involving a Vespa. Among them, there is already the one who parachutes with his mount, or even rides a roller coaster on his handlebars.

His latest madness was to cover the 110 meters of descent from an industrial chimney on the handlebars of his Vespa. Specifically, an abandoned chimney in Pezinok, Slovakia, which has already been used countless times as a platform for bungee jumping as it is one of the tallest structures to do so safely ".

Of course, the stuntman was assisted by two mechanical engineers who prepared the performance with the greatest care. To achieve the feat, they attached the scooter to a safety rope without affecting its operation while two auxiliary ropes acted as guides and allowed the descent to be carried out without danger. On top of that, Günter had another safety rope tied around his waist in case he accidentally came loose from the handlebars at any point.

Fortunately for everyone, everything went well, the slightly crazy driver has one more record to his credit. In an interview conducted just after completing the record, the Austrian stuntman said: “This show is not for the faint of heart. The wind almost knocked me off the tower, my knees were shaking and I almost got stuck. My stomach hurt like never before, but this stunt with the Vespa was also a success and I am extremely happy. »

Knowing Günter, this is surely not the last madness that comes to his mind to achieve a world record.
