The Japanese Autorace motorcycle racing series is truly intriguing. It works in the same way as speedway racing, except that it is done on tarmac circuits instead of dirt. Riders have strict rules, both for motorcycles and racing.

What if we told you that there was apparently also a Speedway race but in Pocket Bike? Competing on a full-size motorcycle is already relatively impressive for ordinary people. So imagine a race on motorcycles without brakes, without rear suspension, and very small compared to that of an adult. There you have the ideal formula for a good laugh.

Like car racing events, there are eight competitors on track here at the Kawaguchi circuit. The most immediate difference in watching them compete is that clearly, the riders have to do a lot of yoga before getting on their machines, because they have their knees at ear level.

The incessant buzz of these little machines on the track makes it even more impressive. If you understand Japanese, the commentator mostly sticks to giving the positions of the drivers in the peloton, and the whole aural situation is both tense and strangely calming.

In short, a pleasant, short and small break, just like these machines, perfect for finishing the meal and getting back on track to finish your day.
