Our reigning double World Champion spoke this morning with Dylan Gray from Dorna after his first day of testing.

How was your morning?

“The feelings this morning were difficult because confidence takes time to return. I rode here last November, but the confidence doesn't come back quickly. I don't get stressed. I have fun on the bike. The power is fantastic. And the more I ride, the faster the bike wants to go. It's a good feeling. I want to go gradually to understand all the information.

When you talk about confidence, is it to brake hard or accelerate early?

" Both. I don't brake that late, but I brake hard to enter the corners. To put on the gas, the electronics help. I need time. I rode better last November, but this winter the break was long and that's why I'm having a little trouble now.

Why did you decide to continue driving with the same tires?

“At the moment I'm too slow to play with the tires. I have good references with these tires, so I prefer to continue using them to work on myself.

What part of electronics is most useful to you?

“I'm thinking more about anti-slip and engine braking management. The Yamaha base is good. It depends on the grip of the track and the power of the engine. You have to play with the power and the anti-slip.

Have you had to change your riding style, your body position in relation to Moto2?

" Yes of course. In Moto2 I had my references and when I was relaxed I went fast. But it takes time to be relaxed. With the Yamaha you have to be even more so, and especially on the first day of testing, be intelligent. »
