For the time being, Andrea Iannone does not yet maintain the fusional relationship that he shares with his incandescent Belen Rodiguez. But with the Mugello route, there is a kind of complicity which has always been verified in the key moments of his career. So, and even being eleventh at the end of the Friday of the Italian Grand Prix, whoever has Guintoli as a teammate again relies on his lucky Tuscan star.

The facts are there. Andrea Iannone is the last Transalpine to have triumphed at Mugello in Moto2. It was in 2012. He had set the best time in MotoGP qualifying in 2015 aboard his Ducati. It was his first pole position. Never has an Italian in the premier category performed so well on the grid, on an Italian machine, for his national event since Giacomo Agostini in 1972 in Imola. Finally, he is the only other driver with Casey Stoner to be on the podium with the colors of the Italian manufacturer. The result of a second place in 2015, and a third last year.

Mugello cannot therefore betray him. Even with a Suzuki. On his day, Joe the Maniac comments: “ I have already won quite a few victories at Mugello and I had one of the best races there last year. It will be the most emotional weekend of the season. It's wonderful to have the support of the Italian fans ».

« It's my circuit and my feelings with the bike are not bad. Even if it's not obvious in terms of times, we made progress on the bike from one session to the next. We must continue in this direction ».

For his part, his teammate Sylvain Guintoli finished last.
