The least we can say is that the various preliminary sessions for this Italian Grand Prix were not a smooth ride for Jonas Folger. Let us judge: 8th in FP1, 3rd in FP2 and 17th in FP3, all causing a passage to Q1 in which the German driver will fall quite heavily but not seriously.

Despite a 6th time in FP4, the recently renewed at Tech3 will therefore start from 15th position on the starting grid.

Hervé Poncharal, his team manager, told Eurosport that the problem for Johann Zarco's teammate lay essentially in his resistance to psychological pressure. In this case, despite the man's obvious potential, a fall, however rare it may be, is never welcome and must be forgotten as quickly as possible...

Fortunately, Jonas Folger's morale does not seem to be affected and his speed should allow him to reach the top 10 tomorrow.

Jonas Folger, 15th: “Although I would throw this GP further than I would like, I am sure we can still do a good job tomorrow. FP4 went well and we found the confidence we needed for qualifying. Then, at the start of Q1, I felt comfortable and put in two solid laps. Right after that I went back to the pit to change the tires and decided to keep the same front tire. At the end, I attacked really hard, but at the 11th turn, at the exit of the chicane, I lost the front. We have to analyze why this happened, but I didn't hurt myself and my final time was ok. I'm sure I could have improved, but when you get close to the limit, sometimes these things happen. We still have to choose which tire we will use for tomorrow's race, but I'm still looking forward to the fight. »
