Danilo Petrucci

Most of the drivers took advantage of the fortnight separating Aragon from Motegi to recharge their batteries in order to tackle the three consecutive races in great shape, which also included a significant time difference. Danilo Petrucci had planned to do the same, but instead he spent several days in bed feeling unwell.

“Last Sunday, when I was picking up my suitcase, I asked myself if I could leave”, explained Petrucci. “ I had the worst week of the year. I was in Viareggio with Dr. Ceccarelli in the Formula Medicine structure to prepare and in the evening we went to dinner. I ate a seafood salad and after a few hours I started to feel bad. »

“I think it was salmonella. Fortunately, the doctors followed me right away, but I didn't eat anything for days, I was very dehydrated. »

“The biggest problem is that I haven't been able to train, but luckily I feel better. I had to undergo a course of antibiotics which weakened me. The only positive thing is that I lost several kilos. »

“This year our bike won on tracks where it seemed impossible to do so and it struggled on others that should have been favorable. Right now the most important thing is to find a good balance with the tires. If you can, then everything is fine, otherwise it becomes difficult to reverse the situation. Overall, though, I see the light at the end of the tunnel when thinking about this Motegi circuit. »

“If it rains, the grip of this track may be different than usual. Normally I'm fast in the wet, but first you have to understand how the asphalt behaves and especially the Michelins. »
