Fenati and his Marinelli Rivacold Snipers Honda rode a perfect race at the Japanese Grand Prix, quickly taking command and gradually increasing their lead to take a splendid victory. Fenati won ahead of Niccolo Antonelli, Marco Bezzecchi (CIP), Tatsuki Suzuki, Aron Canet and Philipp Oettl. With 10 victories, Romano Fenati set a new record in Moto3.

We found on the front row of this fifteenth Grand Prix of the season the two KTMs of Nicolo Bulega and Niccolo Antonelli with the Honda of Aron Canet. The second row included the Mahindra of Marco Bezzecchi in the CIP colors of Alain Bronec, with the two Hondas of Enea Bastianini and Romano Fenati. On the third row were the Honda of Jorge Martin, the KTM of Gabriel Rodrigo and the Mahindra CIP of Manuel Pagliani.

The race was shortened to 13 laps due to oil on the track during warm up. It was still raining when the Grand Prix started. The air temperature was 15° and the track temperature was 17°, as in previous days.

Niccolo Antonelli was the fastest at the start ahead of Romano Fenati, Nicolo Bulega and Aron Canet. Then Bulega lost a few places and found himself in fifteenth position. Joan Mir only occupied twenty-second position. Lorenzo Dalla Porta returned to his stand.

Niccolo Antonelli and Romano Fenati opened up a gap of 1.4 over Aron Canet, who himself was ahead of Marco Bezzecchi by 1.3. Manuel Pagliani fell without seriousness in turn 12. Romano Fenati took first position 11 laps from the checkered flag. Joan Mir was twentieth.

Fenati gradually left Antonelli behind, with the two men separated by 1.6. Antonelli on the other hand was gradually joined by Canet, Bezzecchi and Suzuki. Fenati gradually increased his lead over a group of four made up of Antonelli, Canet, Bezzecchi and Suzuki. Jules Danilo occupied twenty-fourth position.
At the halfway point, Fenati had a comfortable lead of 1.9 over Antonelli, who was ahead of Bezzecchi, Suzuki and Canet. Adam Norrodin fell without gravity. Despite the intense rain, the number of falls was very low. Joan Mir moved up to nineteenth position, but he made a small mistake which allowed Jorge Martin to overtake her and the leader of the World Championship found himself back in twentieth position.

Nicolo Bulega, the man from pole position, continued to have problems and was in fourteenth position. His teammate Andrea Migno was eighteenth, Joan Mir twentieth and Jules Danilo twenty-first.

Fenati continued his festival in first position and preceded Antonelli by 2.6 with 4 laps remaining. Sasaki and Rodrigo fell without gravity. Guevara fell shortly after.
Romano Fenati won the race in style, ahead of Niccolo Antonelli, Marco Bezzecchi, Tatsuki Suzuki, Aron Canet and Philipp Oettl by four seconds. Mir finished 17th and Danilo 18th.
