After a short period of calm, the Moto3 qualifying sessions once again presented us with the spectacle of around thirty riders waiting in slow motion for the three or four headliners, Mir, Martin, Fenati and Ramirez, to take their breath. .

However, the arsenal of punishments is already well present in the regulations and it is not uncommon to see up to a dozen drivers sanctioned at each Grand Prix for this dangerous behavior.

But nothing happens and it’s the same show every time!

Also, today, MotoGP™ race director Mike webb once again summoned the Moto3 riders for yet another briefing during which he announced to them that the sanctions were going to get tougher, particularly for repeat offenders, and that this could go as far as disqualification from the upcoming race. This time, we're not laughing anymore!

His comments can be found on the official website MotoGP.com : “Unfortunately, I still have to give a briefing about the behavior of the Moto3 riders, mainly during qualifying. They fly slowly and try to follow another pilot. But driving slowly on the track is dangerous when other drivers are arriving quickly. So we need to make sure they stop doing this because it's dangerous.
The FIM MotoGP stewards are here because the penalties and sanctions emerge from their work. As race director, I am part of the panel of commissioners and that is why we are doing this briefing, because they will be the ones to give the penalties.
Basically, Moto3 riders are young children and I must say that we do not encounter this problem in the Moto2 and MotoGP categories. In Moto3, it's because the power of the motorcycles is relatively low and because young Moto3 riders are not really aware of the danger. So we have to teach them not to do these dangerous things.
The penalties will be more or less the same as those we have applied since the start of this season, because I don't want to change them too much during the season. But what we have done is to tell them that those who repeat the offense will from now on have really much stronger penalties. Until now, in the event of a repeat offense there was a slight increase in penalties. But they do it too much. So from this race, the increase will be much greater. We will see, and if drivers continue to do this, some drivers will start from the pit lane and some drivers may even be disqualified from the race. »
