Andrea Dovizioso took his fifth victory of the year at this Japanese Grand Prix. A hard-fought victory in the last lap against his main rival in the championship, Marc Marquez.
Barely got off his official Ducati GP17, Andrea Dovizioso spoke to the site's microphone MotoGP.com.
What a victory, here in Motegi! And now you are only 11 points behind Marc. When you saw his latest mistake, what did you think?
Andrea Dovizioso : “I knew my chance was in the back straight, at turn 11. But he was too far away, he was attacking really hard and the rear tires were dead, both for me and for Marc, even on the straights . But he made a mistake and I was able to catch him. I made a perfect turn in curve number 10 and I was able to brake really hard with my bike. But I knew that the last turn, with Marc, is always difficult (laughs). I tried to close everything but it found a way to try. But I was able to get out faster. I'm really happy because the grip was very low and the rear tire deterioration was very big. But we have done a great job since the first session and I thank the team because we are very strong this year. »
