After leading the entire first part of the race, Danilo Petrucci had to slow down the pace due to his choice of an extra-soft rear tire, to finish third in this Japanese Grand Prix.

Barely got off his Ducati GP17 from the Octo Pramac team, Danilo Petrucci spoke to the microphone of the site MotoGP.com.

Congratulations on this third place, here in Motegi. You started with an extra-soft rear tire and you slowed down a little at the end. Was this the source of the problem?

Danilo Petrucci : “yes, I decided to take the risk and go with the extra-soft. At first, honestly, it gave me a little extra, but I decided not to force it very much. Then I saw that the others were very far away and I wondered “Okay, maybe I’m pushing too hard.”. Then at the end I tried to stay with Dovi and Marc, but the central part of the tire was really worn and the bike was spinning a lot from the rear. So I said to myself “OK, a podium is always good”. I am very happy. I would like to thank everyone for this result. »
