This Japanese Grand Prix marked an important moment for the General Director of Ducati Corse Luigi Dall'Igna with the fifth victory of one of his GP17s this Sunday at Motegi on the occasion of the Japanese Grand Prix.

Another GP17 reached the third step of the podium with Danilo Petrucci, while Andrea Dovizioso got closer to 11 points behind Marc Marquez in the provisional classification of the World Championship with three races remaining.

According to Luigi Dall'Igna, who are " There was a lot of tension this Sunday but at the end also a lot of satisfaction. Andrea was great, he ran a truly perfect race and in doing so closed the gap on Marquez to eleven points.

“His fifth victory of the season, here in Japan, has a special meaning and I am really happy. Too bad for Jorge, who failed to get a result in a weekend where he had always been competitive.

“Now we think about Phillip Island, and we know it will be a tough battle until the end, but we have all the right cards to fight for the title until the end.

“Winning in the house of Honda is something truly incredible. I still have the pistons of my riders who triumphed here in 125 and 250. This is the most important moment of the season because we are three races from the end, when the points are fundamental for everyone.

“I am an optimist by nature and I knew Dovi would have tried until the last available opportunity. But it seemed to me that he didn't have the optimal trajectory in the straight, so I thought about an attack in curve 11, where it actually happened.

“I don't think it's profane to compare Andrea to Casey Stoner. He is truly in splendid shape and is doing great things, both in terms of intelligence and will.

“To stimulate my troops, I tell them that there is a lot to do and that we are inferior to the others, but we must recognize that we do well on different tracks and with drivers with different characteristics.

“I don't know if that means we're at the level of our competitors, but we're here to play and it's a pleasure. »
