The last weekend was mixed for Paolo Simoncelli in Jerez. The boss of the SIC58 Squadra Corse team, which competes in Moto3 and MotoE, noted a pole position and a crash in the race with Tatsuki Suzuki, an electric fourth place with Mattia Casadei and a 23rd place with Lorenzo Fellon.

A mixed result which, for once, does not provoke the wrath of the outspoken Italian.

« Mattia Casadei is the man of the weekend. He started his preparation late due to a foot injury during training. He failed all the tests but still managed to do the same times as the best. I'm proud of him! Only the mistake made at the start prevented him from getting on the podium, but he finished in 4th place, first among title contenders. He's strong, I always thought so, but he was able to understand this bike and put that knowledge into practice. Mattia has matured a lot and we hope that this new year will allow him to open the path to Moto2.
Let's move on to Moto3. Strange weather made tire selection difficult, Tatsu opted for the 'H' instead of the 'S' and when he realized the other tires were preferable, he was already racing. He tried to push and made a mistake. It happens, but a driver has to understand when it's time to close the throttle in order to bring home some points, but with hindsight, we are all professors, doctors or world champions.
With Fellon, it's different, starting from further away, the path can seem harder than expected, more complicated than others, but it just needs more time.
For a moment I thought that the magic of Jerez had not left us when I saw the red helmets and then Tatsuki's pole. It was definitely an unusual situation for us with both drivers opening and closing the grid. I like to think that this grid meant something, that this magic has not completely abandoned us, that she was perhaps showing us that when we're ready, she'll still be there waiting for us.

Since Monday, I have been on a “pit-stop” here in Spain, and tomorrow I will join the others from the CEV in Valencia where we will work, as always, to do a good job. »
