Things are not going exactly as hoped at Suzuki with Andrea Iannone. The poor performances follow one after the other but, in the end, it was a meager haul in points that the Italian brought back to his employer after four Grands Prix. There are too many falls during the race and it is therefore necessary to get back on the right path. This is what the last tests in Jerez were used for, well before putting new technical features to the test on the GSX-RR.

After four Grands Prix, it is time for Suzuki and Iannone to concentrate on points and a good ranking at the end of the races. You have to keep your feet on the ground and a cool head, a philosophy that Joe the Maniac described thus during the Jerez tests, which followed a Spanish Grand Prix marked by new disillusionment: “ we finish these tests at the same point as we were during the race. That will take time. The important thing is to concentrate on my riding style and my confidence on the Suzuki. One step at a time ».

Only thirteenth at the end of these tests, more than a second behind the best time achieved by Casa Particular in Viñales who reconciled with his Yamaha, Iannone bows your back: “on works on details, and first on the chassis. Afterwards, we will continue the development program. During the Grand Prix, I suffered from a front tire that was not gripping. We found solutions and I am happy. We will put them into practice during the next meetings ».

« I expect to be faster. I was already not that bad at the end of FP4 of the Spanish Grand Prix ". It will nevertheless be a long-term task, because salvation will not come from putting the 2016 version of Michelin tires back into circulation: “ the temperatures were roughly those of the race and we found the difficulties again. I tested the tires with a stiffer casing. The difference isn't huge, although I prefer them to the others. But they don't bring anything fundamental. It's just a slight plus ». Iannone will have to learn patience.
