For his first day of riding on the Tech3 team's Yamaha, Johann set the seventeenth time, 1.5 behind leader Maverick Vinales. He explains to us his discovery of his new machine on the Ricardo Tormo circuit against the best in the category.

Zarco ranked one hundredth behind his teammate Jonas Folger. Among the rookies in the MotoGP category, he positioned himself in front alex rins et Alex Lowes, two of his main opponents this year in Moto2.

For Johann Zarco, “My debut on a MotoGP machine was very interesting, but it was a bit difficult because I had to get used to it after many years in Moto2. There is a lot to learn and a lot of factors I have to adapt to. My approach is to take everything step by step because of course I won't be able to change in one practice session and I'll need time to figure everything out. I'm making progress and we didn't finish too badly at the end of the day and so that's the positive thing.

“The Tech3 team understands my riding style and I can see that with the YZR-M1 there are some really specific things that need to be done to be fast. I have gained a lot of knowledge, but it will take time to improve and adapt the bike, if necessary, to my style. It was a positive first day, but a little more difficult than I expected. »
