In his New Year greeting to his fans, alongside his teammate Johann Zarco, the German driver of the Tech 3 team recalls his good memories of the 2017 season. His national Grand Prix, for example, was extraordinary, with a superb fight against Marc Marquez.

There were a lot of positives last year for Folger, such as two sixth places in Argentina and Catalonia, in addition to his home podium. In qualifying, he twice reached the second row of the starting grid with sixth place at Assen and fifth at Sachsenring. Jonas Folger had to miss the last four races of 2017 due to health reasons, but nevertheless finished in tenth place in the Championship.

The boss of the Tech3 team, Hervé Poncharal, hoped that Folger could take part in the Yamaha tests at Sepang at the beginning of November. However, only Red, Vinales and zarco were present at this test because Folger's doctors advised him not to ride there.

Folger was diagnosed with Gilbert's syndrome, a genetic liver disease, caused by elevated levels of indirect or free bilirubin (hyperbilirubinemia) in the blood.

Currently Jonas seems in good health and he should take part in the Sepang tests at the end of this month.

He thus presents his wishes to his fans: " Hello everyone. 2017 is over. I have a lot of good memories from this season.

“It was a great year and a big step for me to enter the MotoGP World Championship with such a great team.

“I have wonderful memories of this past year.

“I hope all your hopes and expectations come true in this new year.

“Happy New Year 2018.”
