Valentino Rossi has his in the person of Luca Cadalora, Marc Marquez has his in the person of Emilio Alzamora, Johann Zarco has his in the person of Laurent Fellon and Bradley Smith has his in the person of Randy Mamola. Without even mentioning Fabio Quartararo who has his own in the person of Randy de Puniet, there are many in the MotoGP category who have appropriated the presence of a former rider to serve as their coach.

The latter's job essentially consists of going to the side of the track during each session to study how "their" driver goes through each turn, by comparing him to the other drivers; braking point, engine braking, passing curves, acceleration, everything is dissected and reported to the person concerned.

Jorge Lorenzo had his own in the person of a Wilco Zeelenberg with a particularly keen eye. Unfortunately for the Majorcan rider, the Dutchman preferred to stay at Yamaha to work there with Maverick Vinales.

So who?

The recognized friendship between Jorge Lorenzo and Max Biaggi could have solved the problem, but the latter kindly declined this offer: “Indeed, I had this opportunity. But I would have had to integrate into a structure which has its own laws and balances. »

We do not force a Corsair, who also has other fish to fry in the Italian Championship, to integrate the rank…

Casey Stoner ?

We actually saw the Australian rider in the Ducati box during the Valencia tests, and he gets along quite well with Jorge Lorenzo, while already having a common goal.

More Ducati has just denied this possibility. The reason appears obvious; we will never force Stoner to come to each Grand Prix and observe each session, whereas we could not force him to make a wild card at home..

So… the question mark remains and Jorge Lorenzo may have to do “without”.
