Lorenzo's Aragonese weekend was generally very positive, starting on Friday in the wet when Jorge set the second time on his Ducati. He had to go through Q1 on Saturday, but achieved the best time there, before settling in the middle of the first row in Q2, between Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi.

On Sunday he obtained his best result of the year, with the third step of the podium as in Jerez, but only 2.028 behind the winner. Marc Marquez. Lorenzo sees things in the long term. He has a two-year contract with Ducati, and he applies the formula “one year to learn, one year to win”. For the moment, the development is favorable.

« It is a development that is gradually moving forward in two directions,” explains Jorge. “I’m working to get the most out of the bike. I have to use the machine's strengths to slow down later and accelerate much later than I'm used to. »

“I noticed this again last Friday in Aragón: I need more time to learn. But every time we arrive, I need less and less time because handling the Ducati becomes more and more natural. That's why I always need the whole weekend on dry ground to get the most out of it. »

“On the other hand, the team is still working to change small details to help me. For example, in the center of the curve with maximum inclination, because that's where we still have the biggest problems. I think we can still improve. Each time we are faster in this area. So it’s the work of both parties. »

Why, in opposition to Dovizioso, Does Jorge still use the aero fairing, even if it causes maximum speed losses? “I always drive very gently and I have to feel the front wheel very precisely. This is particularly true in the center of the curve.

“This fairing gives me more support. Drivers who do not achieve high cornering speeds prefer to be faster in changes of direction, exiting the curve and going straight. You can also be very competitive like Dovi with the normal fairing. »
