On the eve of the weekend at Phillip Island, Jorge Lorenzo shared some of his memories with local journalists from Margin, starting with the one, past but bad, of his fall in 2011 on the Australian circuit.

“Philip Island, 2011. I had a big accident in the penultimate corner and injured my last knuckle. It was scary because it was very visual. A lot of blood " .

And when we talk to him about his many broken bones, the Mallorcan pilot prefers not to count: " Too much. More than ten for sure. The hardest thing about MotoGP...is the injuries. it is always very dangerous. »

He doesn't talk about the present, except to list his hobbies and the latest toys in his garage.

“My real hobbies are cinema, golf, tennis, football and video games. My first car was a BMW X5. I was lucky to have a very good car from the start. And then I have the Porsche GT3RS, McLaren 675LT, Lamborghini, Ferrari…”

The future of the Yamaha rider is tinged with red and the number six…

“Well, I don't think too much about it because I still have to race with Yamaha and fight for second place in the championship, but obviously you think about the future. It's a big challenge. It gives me a lot of ambition and motivation. My dream will be to win a championship with Ducati. To be the second driver after Casey to be able to do it. There aren't that many riders in history who have won with two different factory bikes. There are five, I want to be the sixth. »

Without naming his current teammate who is already on the list, Jorge Lorenzo will therefore be happy to find a certain Casey Stoner who also receives his full understanding.

“I understand Casey. When he was a kid, there was a lot of pressure on him to become a world champion, for himself and his family. This pressure and the tension he feels, maybe it was too much for him. He loved racing, but not the other things that came with being a driver, like interviews and that sort of thing. It was more of a job for him, not a passion. So he had a family and a baby.”

Jorge Lorenzo, human, simple and frank. As per usual.
Whether you like it or not doesn't matter and won't change it...
