Currently seventh in the provisional World Championship standings, Jorge Lorenzo has a total of 59 points, and he is between the two Tech 3 drivers since Johann Zarco is sixth with 75 points and Jonas Folger eighth with 51.

Lorenzo put in some good performances at times, finishing third in the Spanish Grand Prix, and setting the second fastest time in qualifying for the Catalan Grand Prix. He finished in fourth position in Barcelona, 9.608 behind the winner, his teammate Andrea Dovizioso, and 3 seconds from third Dani Pedrosa.

"I still need more experience, says Jorge, I still miss it. During the first free practice session of the weekend, I'm going faster and faster, but I still need time to understand. We still have to change the configuration from one track to another.

“Our biggest weakness is still cornering speed. My speed in the corners is quite slow. Entering a turn only works by forcing a lot with the body. It's the same on all tracks.

“We need to find ways to reduce this problem. If we don't improve cornering speed, improvements in braking and acceleration won't help us much.

“For the first time, in Barcelona, I was less than ten seconds from the winner. It was a good race, but of course I want to win. Fourth place in the standings is not the position I want, but I'm getting close. »

The new Michelin rigid-frame front will be available this weekend in the Netherlands: “ Being stiffer, it provides more stability when braking, but less grip.

“It's not a problem at high temperatures. Difficulties only occur if the temperature is cooler. In this case, the tire may not have enough grip in the center of the curve. »
