Behind Fabio Quartararo, Johann Zarco and Lorenzo Fellon, there are not yet very many who have attempted the adventure of wanting to reach the Grand Prix, but Théo and Alex Gourdon, two French people born and living in Spain, are among them in lining up this year in the hotly contested Junior Moto3 World Championship renamed this year the FIM JuniorGP World Championship.

When in addition, those who will race under the sea green colors of the Leopard Impala Junior Team strive to produce and distribute a press release that holds water, the least we can do is to let you know about them a little better, and to wish them a good season in this category formerly won by some now well-known names, like Héctor Barberá, Álvaro Bautista, Aleix Espargaró, Pol Espargaró, Stefan Bradl, Efrén Vázquez, Alberto Moncayo, Maverick Viñales, Álex Rins, Álex Márquez, Fabio Quartararo, Niccolò Bulega, Lorenzo Dalla Porta, Dennis Foggia, Raúl Fernández, Jeremy Alcoba, Izan Guevara and David Holgado, to name only the most recent ones.

The first round will take place this weekend in Estoril, with two European Talent Cup races, a Moto3 race in which the two brothers will be the only two French representatives, and two Moto2 races.

Hello Theo, how are you?
« Hello, things are better. I'm trying to recover as quickly as possible. »

Can you tell us what happened to you?
« At the beginning of April, during training, I had an accident which resulted in a fracture of my right wrist and the fifth metatarsal of my left foot. I'm in rehabilitation. »

Will you be present in Estoril?
« Yes, I'm doing everything to be there. I won't be 100% but I will be on my bike. I can't wait to get back to my team and the atmosphere of the competition. »

What are your goals for this 2022 junior world championship?
« My main goal is to continue learning and improving with each race. It's my third year that I'm changing categories and I want to assert myself in Moto 3 junior for at least 2 years. I am lucky to have a team with a lot of experience and I want to seize this opportunity to help me progress. I would like to thank all the messages of support received in recent days and thank my sponsors and collaborators. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Ricard Jové for his trust. »

But what happened to you and your brother?

How do you see your first race at Estoril?
« It's a circuit that I really like, it's like we were at home. It's ideal to start the championship. »

What are your goals for this 2022 junior world championship?
« I want to have fun and learn step by step. There are very good drivers in this championship and you have to learn from them. I want to improve in each race and why not score points in one of them. »

Do you know that you will be the youngest driver on the grid? What are you feeling ?
« Yes, I will be turning 15 on Saturday May 07th. This is the age limit authorized in JuniorGP to participate in this competition. I am very lucky to be here because I know it is difficult but I still have a lot to learn. »
