The world championship FIM JuniorGP, unfortunately already hit hard by the death of Borga Gomez during private practice for the French round at Magny-Cours, has just learned terrible news this evening with the accident that occurred Saturday morning to young Pau Alsina, also during a private training session.

This happened at the MotorLand Aragón circuit, in the Zaragoza region, and although he was taken to the hospital in that city, where he underwent emergency surgery and was placed in intensive care, he did not survive the severity of his injuries and died this Monday.

Pau Alsina was 17 years old and was racing under the well-known colours of the Estrella Galicia 0,0 team. His loss once again casts a shadow over the FIM JuniorGP World Championship, the antechamber to the Grand Prix that many young people dream of, just as its fourth round is being prepared, precisely on the Alcañiz circuit, in the province of Teruel.

He was in 13th place in the general classification with 15 points, having competed in the races at Jerez and Nevers Magny-Cours, after having missed the first round of the championship in Estoril, Portugal. Eleventh then eighth at Jerez, fourteenth at Magny-Cours, he had already demonstrated a good level for a rookie in the Moto3 category. The native of the province of Barcelona, in Catalonia, was also participating in the Italian Speed Championship (CIV) where he occupied fourth place in the Moto3 general classification.

In Spain, a country where the motorcycle is an institution, there have been numerous official reactions, from the town hall of Sallent, where he was from Pau Alsina, which declared an official day of mourning and organized a minute of silence this Tuesday at 19 p.m., up to the Catalan, Spanish and Aragonese governments.

Our sad thoughts go out to his family.
